Propecia contains a medicine called finasteride. This belongs to a group of medicinescalled Type II ‘5-alpha reductase inhibitors’.

Propecia is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (also known as androgeneticalopecia). Propecia increases hair growth on the scalp and prevents further hair loss inmen. Men with mild to moderate, but not complete hair loss, can benefit from usingPropecia.

How does the hair on your head grow?On average your hair grows about 1 centimetre (half an inch) each month. Hair growsfrom hair follicles, which are located under your skin.

A single scalp hair grows continuously for 2-4 years (growth phase) and then stopsgrowing for 2-4 months (rest phase). After this the hair falls out. In its place a newhealthy hair begins to grow, and the cycle is repeated. The hairs on your scalp arealways in different stages of this cycle so it is normal to lose scalp hair every day.

What is male pattern hair loss?

Male pattern hair loss is a common condition in which men experience thinning of thehair on the scalp, often resulting in a receding hairline and/or balding on the top of thehead. This condition is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic factors and aparticular hormone, DHT (dihydrotestosterone).

DHT causes a decrease in the growth phase and thinning of the hair (see picture). Thisleads to male pattern hair loss. These changes can start to occur in some men in their20s and become more common with age. Once hair loss has occurred over a longperiod of time, the hair may be permanently lost.

These include genetic, hormone-related, and/or andicular disorders. These can start to occur in men in their20s and become more common with age.

These genetic and hormone-related factors may lead to the gradual decline in the growth phase of the hair and/or the increasing thinning of the hair on the scalp. This gradual thinning of the hair on the scalp leads to the gradual regrowth of the hair on the top of the head.

A meningeal problem associated with and male pattern hair loss is thought to be related to a combination of both genetic and/or andicular factors. These may include:

  • genetic abnormalities affecting the 5-alpha reductase enzyme (DHT)
  • andicular disorders

These factors may lead to the gradual cessation of the hair loss phase and the regrowth of the hair on the top of the head.

These factors are thought to be involved in the gradual cessation of the hair loss phase and regrowth of the hair on the top of the head. This gradual stop at the hair loss phase leads to the gradual cessation of the hair loss phase and regrowth of the hair on the top of the head.

How does Propecia help?

This medication is used to treat male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) by preventing the production of a menopause-like hormone, DHT (dihydrotestosterone). This allows the hair to be permanently lost.

Product Description

Finasteride, a medication primarily used to treat pattern hair loss, is a type of medication called a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. It works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to hair loss. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride helps to slow down hair loss and promote hair regrowth. Understanding the benefits and risks of finasteride can help individuals make informed decisions about their use of this medication. As a medication, finasteride has been shown to be effective in treating hair loss and promoting hair growth.

Finasteride is a medication primarily used to treat pattern hair loss, which is the type of hair loss that is caused by a genetically inherited condition known as anagen hair loss. It works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone to DHT. By reducing the levels of DHT, finasteride helps to slow down hair loss and promote hair growth. However, it's important to note that finasteride is not a cure for hair loss; it is simply an effective treatment that can help regrow hair. For individuals with hair loss, finasteride can be a valuable tool in managing the symptoms associated with this condition. By inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to DHT, finasteride helps to slow down hair loss and promote hair growth. In conclusion, finasteride is a medication that can help to halt the progression of hair loss in individuals who have anagen or anagen-like hair loss.
